\"\"<\/a>On September 27, 2013, LMGW employees left their offices, donned jeans and tennis shoes, and ventured out for a day of work in their community, establishing the tradition of LMGW\u2019s Annual Community Volunteer Day.<\/p>\n

Senior accountant Katie Vachon coordinated the 2013 event, acting as liaison with community leaders on behalf of LMGW partners and staff.\u00a0 LMGW\u2019s nonprofit organization of choice this year was the Boys and Girls Club of San Jose, Smythe Clubhouse. After meeting at the start of the work day at the San Jose clubhouse, LMGW partners and employees were briefed on their volunteer work for the day. Tasked with organizing the long-neglected donation room,\u00a0the group\u00a0set to work emptying the room.\u00a0LMGW volunteers tackled boxes and bags of assorted donations\u00a0 – meticulously sorting\u00a0and categorizing, labeling, and later putting\u00a0everything in their proper places.<\/p>\n

Michael Bryant and Jacen Dickman took the lead in installing bicycle hooks on the walls, while Matt Wheeler, Tim Hoffart, and other staff moved equipment.\u00a0 The Boys and Girls Club of San Jose, Smythe Clubhouse, gives the majority of donations it receives as prizes for member boys and girls\u00a0who earn tickets for homework, awards, citizenship, and for other recognitions. LMGW staff working as a team created an organized, easily accessible donation room\u00a0to benefit\u00a0the children and families of Smythe Clubhouse.

Midday, LMGW partners surprised\u00a0LMGW staff with a free lunch made available by Road Dogs Food Truck.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

After a relaxing lunch on the playground,\u00a0LMGW partners and staff\u00a0adjourned\u00a0to the gymnasium for afternoon activities.\u00a0\u00a0More than\u00a0100 boys and girls arrived after school to participate in the special day of activities.\u00a0LMGW volunteers\u00a0participated as line leaders and guides\u00a0as the children ran\u00a0afternoon relays and played a variety of games.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the afternoon was an old-fashioned game of dodgeball, pitting\u00a0Boys and Girls\u00a0Club\u00a0students against Smythe and LMGW staff members.\u00a0 The game provided an\u00a0hour of exhilarating laughter and tireless fun!<\/p>\n
